A 100-foot wind turbine outside a new LEED-certified home can provide enough power to cover the entire home's heat and electricity. The cost to pay for that wind turbine in many states: $150 a month (if tacked onto a 30-year mortgage, and including interest). My average cost for utilities a month: $300, and it's getting higher all the time.
