GM once belittled companies investing in hybrid technology. They said hybrids were a stopgap solution, and the real next-generation car would be hydrogen powered. Today, the company officially unveiled the 2011 Chevy Volt, with Lutz behind the wheel--as the announcement was made that "GM's second century starts now." Entering its second century of business, GM gets it now: green technology, energy efficiency, and sustainability can translate into profits.
